Genevieve "Gen" Christine Fechner, 96 of Syracuse, NE went to be with our Lord on July 19, 2016 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Society.

Gen was born on a farm near Stella, NE on June 5, 1920, daughter of William H. and Rosa (Shellenberg) Kreglo. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Johnson, NE. She graduated from Syracuse high school in 1938 and later Lincoln School of Commerce. She worked in Lincoln for four years.

On June 12, 1943 she married Dr. Herbert H. Fechner and moved to Syracuse. Gen was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church for over seventy years. She was active in WELCA and church circle. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. Gen was a member of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and on the board of West View Manor Senior Citizen Housing for many years.

Family and friends always provided a constant source of love and joy. She will always be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Survivors include daughters: Kathy (Dean) Thomas, Rockford, IL and Linda (Robert) Miller, Lincoln; Son: Ronald (Julie) Fechner, Omaha; Grandchildren: Lori (Paul) Schneider, Roscoe, IL, Andrea (David) Cardani, Champaign, IL, Annette Miller-Gartin, Springfield, MO, Brian (Traci) Miller, Los Gatos, CA, Christina (Brian) Leach, Reno, NV; Step Grandchildren: Paul (Amy) McHenry and Philip (Jenny) McHenry both of Omaha.

Predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband and her brother & sister-in-law: Wilford (Josephine) Kreglo.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 23 at 2:30 P.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday July 22 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church or Good Samaritan Society both of Syracuse.
