Gerald "Jerry" A. Dutton, 80 of Syracuse, passed away on February 18, 2025, at the Syracuse Hospital. He was born on September 30, 1944, to Gerald L. & Marjorie (Steele) Dutton in Cambridge, NE. Jerry was first married to Linda Ems, with whom he had three children. He later married Rosemary Volkmer on August 11, 1989, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
Jerry spent 21 years as an over-the-road truck driver with TSL, a career he took great pride in. Outside of work, he was an avid fan of NASCAR and Sprint Car racing, never missing the National Sprint Car Races in Knoxville, IA. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and was a tinkerer at heart. A true treasure hunter, Jerry loved finding great deals at auctions, garage sales, and thrift stores. However, the greatest joys in Jerry's life were his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary Dutton; children Gina Grosenbach, Diana (Clay) Nolte, Justin Dutton, Todd (Nikkie) Shallenberger, Tad (Tara) Shallenberger, Mindy Briley; grandchildren Megan (Tony), Makenna, Cade, Conner, Cole, Christian, McKenzie, Hailey, Jordan, Drew, Blake, Trenten, Kaitlyn (Robert), Kymber, Ryan and Taylor; great grandchildren Grayson, Kinsley, Nora and Abe; brothers Lyle (Lorraine), Terry (Cindy); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Shirley, Carol, Larry (Carol), Monica (Pat), Leonard (Deborah) and Cliff; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill; sister-in-law Jean; brother-in-law Don and special aunt & uncle Ruth & Frosty.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the St. Paulinus Facebook page.
