Gerald W. Dowding, 90 of Palmyra passed away Monday June 9, 2014 at his home. He was born to John & Falsom (Dwinell) Dowding on April 10, 1924 in Palmyra, NE. He married Eva Mae Rockenbach on March 21, 1946 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle, NE.
Gerald worked as a farmer and also for American Stores and the Otoe County Department of Roads. He was a member of the Palmyra School Board, Bennet Elevator Board, Palmyra Rough Riders, Country School Board and Silver Creek 4-H Club.
He is survived by his sons and wives Robert (Marie), of Seattle, WA, Donald (Kathy), of Palmyra, NE, Ronald (Arlene), of Bennet, NE, and Dennis, of Palmyra, NE, daughter, Dianne (Jeff), of Greenwood, NE grandchildren Kent (Alex) Dowding, Mandy (Ben) Park, Jenny (Ron) Baier, Curt Dowding and significant other Amanda Burhoop, Jana (Brad) Docter, Nathan (Lisa) Dowding, Ciera Dowding, RustiLynn Dowding, and FrankieJo Dowding, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, sister Lovina Genuchi, brother Verne (Winnie) Dowding, sister-in-law Donna (Rockenbach) Rengstorf, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Falsom Dowding, wife Eva Mae (Rockenbach), brothers Joe, John, and Clyde, and sisters Lulu Knox, Pearl Monahan, along with 4 brothers-in-law, and 4 sisters-in-law
Funeral Services will be held on Monday June 16, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Palmyra.
Burial will be at Rosewood Cemetery in Palmyra. Memorials are suggested to the Families Choice.
Visitation will be held on June 14 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
