Geraldine Bruns

Geraldine Mickle was born on December 13, 1921 to Harry and Anna (Viox) Mickle in Avoca, Nebraska. She died on July 12, 2007 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 28 days.

Geraldine married Maynard Ralph Bruns on December 23, 1942 at the United Church of Christ in Avoca, Nebraska. To this union, 4 children were born - Jan, Rick, LuAnn, and Kathy. Geraldine and Maynard celebrated 44 years of marriage before he died in 1986. Geraldine was a member of the Avoca United Church of Christ, the Golden Rod Garden Club, and Extension Club. She was primarily a homemaker, but had once been a teacher in a one-room school house, North Branch School. She loved her small town and home church. She especially loved her family.

Geraldine is survived by daughter Jan and husband Michael Lomax, of Lincoln, NE, son Rick and wife Connie Bruns, of Avoca, NE, daughter LuAnn Gobber & Gary Jones, of Lincoln, NE, and Kathy and husband Fred Helmink, of Lincoln, NE. Geraldine's grandchildren are Jeff & Dawn Lomax, Matt Lomax & Roberta Whalen, Andy Lomax & Kristin Tex, Carrie & Barry Brandt, Roxanne & Ben Kastens, Brenda & Jarred Royal, and Scott Bruns, Jill & Brandon King, Traci & Matt Rathje, and Kelly Gobber, Kristin, Brady, Kylie, and Kenzie Helmink. Her great grandchildren include Morgan Lomax, Trenton King, Jada Cash, Burton Brandt, Barret Brandt, Rylan Kastens, and Rowan Kastens. She is also survived by one sister Donna Jean Beccard, of Fort Collins, CO

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maynard Ralph Bruns,and great grandson Jordan Cash.

Funeral Services were Monday, July 16th at 10:30 A.M.
at the United Church of Christ, Congregational, Avoca, NE

Visitation will be Sunday July 15th from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M., with family greeting friends from 7 P.M. until 9 P.M., all at the funeral Home, the casket will be open one hour before services at the church.
