Gladys C. Kruse was born January 21, 1909, rural Syracuse. The daughter of William J. and Clara (Zahn) Kruse, Syracuse. She passed away Tuesday April 16, 2013 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center.
She was a retired elementary teacher who taught in rural schools of Otoe County and Unadilla and Lorton for 45 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Women's Fellowship, Four Corners Club, Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Senior Citizen's League, Friendship Group and Otoe County Museum of Memories.
She was a graduate of Syracuse High School and attended Peru State Teachers College and the University of Nebraska.
After retirement she enjoyed doing volunteer work at the museum, also enjoyed traveling, knitting, needlepoint and china painting.
Survivors include: Nephew, Ralph and Jane Ross, Syracuse, Great Nephew, Jason and Laura Ross, Syracuse, many cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial are suggested to Rely for Life.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday April 19 at 10 A.M. at Park Hill cemetery in Syracuse, NE. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ also in Syracuse.
Visitation will be Wednesday April 17 from 1 until 9 P.M. and Thursday from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
