Obituary

Harold K. Mattes was born on January 8, 1928 in Bartlett, Iowa to George and Blanche (Muth) Mattes. He passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse at the age of 79.

He was united in marriage on December 23, 1949 to Pearl C. Hewett in Papillion, Nebraska. They made their home in the Omaha area and later moved to Burr, Nebraska where he lived for 37 years. After moving to Otoe County, he became a Road Grater Operator for the Otoe County Roads Department. In Harold's spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and working around his home.

He his survived by his daughter, Nona Keel and husband Gordon of Salt Springs Island, British Columbia, Canada. Granddaughter: Sada Keel, Victoria Island, British Columbia, Canada, brother, Roger Mattes and wife Mick of Sidney, IA; sisters, Marilyn Rogers and husband Bill of Muskegon, MI and Lorainne Ritchie of Goehner, NE. He is also survived by many other relatives.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Pearl Mattes who died May 5, 2005 at her home near Burr, NE.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hope Lutheran Church in Burr, Nebraska with Rev. William Dressen and Rev. Mary Grundman officiating.

Interment will be in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Burr, Nebraska.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 10th from Noon until 9:00 P.M. and Sunday February 11th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. The family will greet and receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Hope Lutheran Church in Burr, NE.
