Obituary
Havley "Buzz" Sayers entered into heaven on June 25, 2009 at Alegent Midlands Hospital with several members of his family at his bedside. He was born on September 28, 1937 to Harold and Leona Sayers on Beils Island east of Rock Bluffs. He was a graduate of Plattsmouth High School Class of 1955.
On August 24, 1956, he married Minnie Mae (Hoschar) Sayers. To this couple tow children were born, Leann (Sayers) Kaffenberger and Bart Sayers. Havley worked fro 41 years at Lyman Richey sand and gravel which he retired from in 2000. He also worked for area farmers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Charles and Jerry and a niece, Sheryl.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Mae Sayers of Murray, NE, daughter, Leann and son-in-law Michael Kaffenberger of Murray, NE, son Bart and daughter-in-law, Mary Beth, of Canyon, TX, grandchildren, Emily and grandson-in-law Curtis Carter of Des Moines, IA, Jakob Kaffenberger of Murray, NE, Daniel & Brady Sayers of Canyon, TX, Sisters-in-law, Dana Sayers of Murray, NE, Mary Ellen Everett of Plattsmouth, NE, Jeanie Sayers of Council Bluffs, IA and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Havley was an avid Sooner Fan and also enjoyed class of 1955 lunches, his coffee group and golf. His greatest love was his family and friends. His church and strong faith sustained him through good and bad days. Havley was an elder emeritus in the Murray Christian Church, coached little league football, Boy Scout leader, C.Y.F leader, served 8 years on the Murray Town Board and was a Murray Volunteer Fireman.
Havley was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and friend to many.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Murray Christian Church with Rev. Larry Hammons officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Bluffs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29th from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M at the Funeral Home and from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Murray Christian Church with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Memorials may be directed to the Murray Christian Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
