OBITUARY
HELEN CATHRYN BOTTCHER
REUTER RENKEN
Helen Renken was born March 29, 1913, to John and Sophie (Able) Bottcher on the farm near Talmage, Nebraska. She passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, Nebraska, at the age 93 years, 11 months, and 23 days.
Helen was one of seven children. She attended grade school at District #40 and high school in Talmage. She was confirmed at McWilliams Church near Talmage. Helen married Clarence Reuter in 1936. The couple farmed for a while but later moved to the Syracuse area where Clarence worked for Strong Bros. as a mechanic for many years. To this union one son, Roy was born. Clarence worked until he suffered a stroke and passed away in 1972.
In 1990 Helen met and married Edo Renken. They lived in the Syracuse area until their health failed and moved to the Belle Terrace nursing home in Tecumseh where Edo passed away on March 29, 2001. Helen then lived her remaining years in the home. She loved flowers, gardening and embroidering.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughter-in-law Kathy Reuter 3 grandchildren – Marc Reuter and wife Natasha, Sarah Reuter and Tim Reuter, stepdaughter Mercedes and husband Bill Parsons of Reno, Nevada, sister-in-law Evelyn and husband LeRoy Keim, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents ~ John and Sophie, husbands ~ Clarence Reuter and Edo Renken, son ~ Roy, 4 brothers ~ Edward, Gilbert, Harold, and Leo, 2 sisters ~ Edith Naber and Edna Cropp, Brothers-in-law – Gilbert Naber and Gene Cropp, Ralph Irvin, and Elmer Reuter, 3 sister-in-law – Joata Bottcher, Marjory Bottcher, and Jane Bottcher.
Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2007 from noon - 9 pm
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 27th 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. John's United Church of Christ, 511 7th Street, Syracuse, Nebraska
