Helen C. Schacht, 96 of Syracuse passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse. She was born on July 25, 1920 to Charles & Anna (Wells) Wilberger in Julian, NE.
Helen graduated from Julian High School in 1936 and then attended Peru State College where she graduated with a teaching degree on May 31, 1940. She then taught school for 1 year each in Raymond and Tekamah and a half a year in Cook. Helen was married on June 4, 1942 to Albert H. Schacht at the United Brethren Church in Julian, NE. She was a member of St. Paul's UCC where she belonged to the Women's Fellowship and the quilting group. She also was a member of Cook's Women's Club, Friendly Farmerettes and Daughter of Union Veterans.
Helen is survived by her Daughter: Patricia (Mike) Kavanaugh of Lincoln; Grandsons: Doug (Tiffany) Kavanaugh of Lincoln, David (Jenna) Kavanaugh of Austin, TX; Great Grandchildren: Chase, Karly & Barrett Kavanaugh all of Lincoln, Jada, Zachary, Stella all of Austin, TX; Sister-in-law: Shirley Wilberger of Auburn; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband: Albert, Son: Gary, Sister: Ruth (Rocky) Manginelli, Brother: Harry Wilberger, Sisters-in-law: Elva (Alfred) Gardient, Leta (Lawrence) Blas, Hilda (Melvin) Gobber.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage). Burial will be at St. Paul's UCC Cemetery (Osage).
Memorials are suggested to the Family's Choice.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
