Helen M. Stubbendick, 89 of Syracuse, passed away on April 5, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born on March 21, 1937, to Wilkie and Sophia (Schalk) Harms near Syracuse. She attended country school at District 89.
Helen was united in marriage to Maurice Stubbendick on October 8, 1961, at Christ Lutheran Church. She worked together with her husband on their farm south of Syracuse. She was an active member of her church volunteering her services whenever needed. Helen cherished her role as caregiver whether it be as a CNA at Good Samaritan Center for over 15 years or in caring for the children of family and friends.
Helen is survived by son Harold (Benita) Stubbendick; grandson Justin (Kelly) Stubbendick; great grandchildren Easton and Jett Stubbendick, August, Liz and Leah Levenhagen; siblings Ella Beccard, Fritz Harms, Ray (Betty) Harms; special niece Linda Coster; sister-in-law Marlene Harms and numerous family and friends.
Preceded in death by parents, husband Maurice; siblings Arnold Harms, Sterling Harms, John Harms, Richard Harms, Mary Griepenstroh and Billie Harms.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage. The service will be livestreamed of the Fusselman Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association – Nebraska Chapter.
