Ilda Lynn Rodaway was born October 5, 1930, in Mitchell, Nebraska to Alvin Jess & Jewell (Martin) Lashley. She passed away April 27, 2010, at the age of 79 years.
Ilda married Nathan Rodaway, on May 28, 1948, in the 1st Baptist Church, in Lincoln, Nebraska. To this union was born three children, Natalie, Tom, and Sue. She spent the early part of her life raising the children on the farm Northwest of Unadilla, Nebraska, and assisting Nathan with the chores of a rural farming life. There were the rewards of large garden, milking, chickens, cattle, hogs and of course row crops. She managed an ice cream shop for her sister Elva, in Palmyra, NE and later was hostess at the American Legion Club, at Syracuse, NE. After retiring from farming, she and Nathan moved to Bennet, NE and ran the Bennet Off Sale, for eleven years. Ilda once again retired to a home in Unadilla. She and Glen Fentiman were neighbors and great friends enjoying each other's time and many adventures. Ilda was a member of the Palmyra Presbyterian Church and later a member of the Unadilla Christian Church.
Ilda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Natalie & Robert Sorensen, of Lincoln, son & daughter-in-law Tom & Irene (Gartner) of Unadilla, and daughter & son-in-law Sue & Don Reeves, of rural Palmyra, brother-in-law & sister Norman & Elva Vollertsen of rural Palmyra, sister Audrey Barkhurst of Kansas and brother & sister-in-law Warren & Carol Lashley, of Syracuse, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Ilda was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Nathan.
She will be remembered and missed by all.
Memorial Servics will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Unadialla Christian Church with Rev. Andy DeGoyler officiating.
