Obituary

Iona Charlotte Marie Albers was born to Edward and Ella (Wilkens) Schacht on October 11, 1918 at her family's home in rural Talmage, Nebraska. She passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Belle Terrace Nursing Home in Tecumseh, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 5 days.

She was united in marriage on February 20, 1938 at St. Paul's United Church (Osage) to Rudolph H. Albers and together they raised one son, Darrell. After marriage, they farmed near Syracuse and ran a dairy operation. In 1955, they moved to a farm southeast of Cook, where they farmed until retiring. Iona loved farming and helping with the day-to-day activities, including driving the tractors.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage). She loved cooking, sewing, quilting and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her Son: Darrell Albers and wife Connie of Cook, NE; Grandchildren: James Albers and wife Erica and children, Amanda, Sharon and Tyler all of Tecumseh, NE; Bobbi Albers and children, Mendell, Ashlynn and Chyenne all of Tecumseh, NE; Step-Grandchildren: Sheri Delahay and husband David and children, Jesse, Clinton, Miranda, Nathaniel and Isaac all of Colorado; Gina Olberding and husband Dan and children, Travis, Emma and Paden all of Colorado. Sister: Rosina Harvey of California; Brother: Lester Schacht of Colorado. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband: Rudolph Albers (10/30/1988); Brother: Raymond Schacht.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) with Rev. Curtis Rieger officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21st from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
