Irene A. Eisenhauer was born on October 10, 1917 to Walter and Mamie (Brammeier) Schrieber, at her parents home south of Syracuse, Nebraska. She passed away on Monday, December 24, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 14 days.

She started school at the age of 4 at Pleasant Hill School near Syracuse and was a 1934 graduate of Syracuse High School. She received her degree in elementary education from Peru State College in 1967.

Prior to her marriage, she taught in one room schools near Syracuse and Burr. She was united in marriage on March 5, 1942 to Emil E. Eisenhauer at her parent's home southeast of Syracuse, Nebraska. She returned to teaching in 1957, teaching in the Burr, Cook and Nemaha Valley elementary schools until retiring in 1982.

She was a long time member of Hope Lutheran Church in Burr, having been active with the women's ministry there, serving in many different offices and also taught Sunday School. She loved to sing and music was a special joy all of her life.

In her spare time, Irene loved to read and she and Emil did lots of traveling. In 1991, she and Emil were honored as a 100 year farm family.

She is survived by Husband, Emil Eisenhauer of Syracuse, NE; Daughters: Jean Eisenhauer of Lexington, VA; Mary Beth Bretthorst and husband Coy of New Castle, CO; Son: Dwight Eisenhauer and wife Linda of Syracuse, NE; Grandchildren: Rick Eisenhauer and wife Trang of Firth, NE; Jon Eisenhauer of Syracuse, NE; Ty Bretthorst of Brooklyn, NY; Shannon Scoggins and husband Anthony of San Diego, CA. Step Grandchildren: Jeff Rohlfs and fiancé Amy of Unadilla, NE: Becky Wallen and husband Larry of Lincoln, NE; Great Grandchildren: Nick & Jacob Eisenhauer of Syracuse, NE: Jeremy Eisenhauer of Firth, NE; Casey Eisenhauer of Lincoln, NE; Stephanie Eisenhauer of Syracuse, NE; Step Great Grandchildren: Taylor Rohlfs of Unadilla, NE: Cassandra Wallen of Lincoln, NE; Sisters-in-law: Lydia Goering of Syracuse, NE; Elda Schrieber of Red Bud, IL Irene Eden Eisenhauer of Syracuse, NE; Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, brother: Allen Schrieber

Funeral Services will be Friday, December 28, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church in Burr, Nebraska with Rev. William Dressen officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26th from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Thursday, December 27th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, Nebraska.

The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to Hope Lutheran Church or The Alzheimer's Association.
