Irma "Jeanette" Johnson, age 89, of Syracuse passed away Saturday October 19, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, NE. She was born July 20, 1924 in Stromsburg, NE to Henning & Hilda (Johnson) Carlson.
She married Rolland Johnson on June 22, 1949 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Osceola, NE. Jeanette was baptized, confirmed and spent her life in the Lutheran Faith, the last 51 years as a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, in Syracuse. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. While most of her years were spent working inside the home raising and nurturing her family; Jeanette worked with Rolland at the First National Bank in Osceola. After moving to Syracuse, she worked at the Good Samaritan Center upon its opening; as well as at Pat's Fashion Shoppe; and over 25 years as Executive Director at Westview Manor. She enjoyed her time in the kitchen and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed time spent in her flower garden and playing cards, including being a member of various card clubs throughout the years. Traveling was an interest for Jeanette and Rolland, including to Banking Conventions and travels with and to see family. Jeanette was all about her family and time spent with them including around the holidays were her most cherished times and memories.
Survived by: Husband Rolland of Syracuse; Children: Arlene (Phil) Marsh of Lincoln, NE; Rolla (Alex) Legge of North Bend, NE; Sharilyn (Bob) Norton of Omaha, NE; Dennis (Margaret) Johnson of Fort Worth, TX; Grandchildren: Michael (Tara) Johnson of Lincoln; Michelle (Jeff) Melvin of Lincoln; Ryan Norton of Fort Worth; Bailey Norton of Omaha; Atticus & Gunnar Johnson of Fort Worth; Great Grandchildren: Caleb, Tristan, Brock Melvin of Lincoln; Bayla Johnson of Lincoln; Brother-in-law: Warren (Betty) Johnson of Lincoln; also other relatives and friends.
Jeanette is preceded in death by: Parents; Brother: Lowell Carlson; Sister: Vernelle Carlson; Stepmother Helen Carlson.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday October 23 at 11:00 A.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 1162 Mohawk St. Syracuse, Nebraska, with burial at Park Hill Cemetery, Syracuse, NE.

Visitation will be Tuesday Oct. 22 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
