IRVIN RICHARD FRANKE
Irvin Richard Franke was born April 20, 1931. He was the first child of Fritz I. Franke and Olga Agnes (Landis) Franke. He passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Louisville Care Community, at the age of 84 years, and 5 months.
Irvin attended the Stringtown Country School, Louisville Elementary, and was a 1948 graduate of Louisville High School. He went to work at Ash Grove Cement Co. after graduation. Irvin served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Trieste. In 1955, he married Evelyn Treadway, with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. They have three children together: Daniel Richard, Randall R., and Amy Leigh.
Irvin worked at Ash Grove until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, Irvin and Evelyn enjoyed fishing and traveling.
In 2011, after Irvin's diagnosis of Alzheimer's and cancer, they moved from their "country home" into Louisville. He was cared for at home until he broke his hip in 2015 and moved to a care facility. Irvin died at the Louisville Care Center on October 9, 2015 at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fritz, sister Janice Mannering, and nephew Adam Hinkle.
Irvin is survived by his wife Evelyn Franke, of Louisville, children Dan (Patty) Franke, of Blair, Randy Franke, of Omaha, and Amy Franke Okamoto, of Norfolk, Nebraska. He has five grandchildren: Ryan Schuman, Arick Franke, and Molly Franke, all of Omaha, and Kai Okamoto and Piper Okamoto, of Norfolk, sisters Rose Hickey, of Weeping Water, and Mary Hinkle, of Auburn, and sister-in-law Judy Franke, of Auburn.
Memorial service will be Friday, October 16, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, 222 Walnut Street, Louisville, Nebraska, with Visitation one hour before services at the Church.
