James "Jim" A. Van Housen, 77, of Marengo, Iowa, passed away on October 13, 2025. He was born on January 5, 1948, in Lincoln, to Donald and Shirley (Lippold) Van Housen.

Jim grew up in Syracuse and graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he earned a degree in Business and was a proud member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He worked for many years in telemarketing sales.

In 2005, Jim married Dorothy "Dot" and together they shared many years filled with love. He enjoyed cheering for his beloved Chicago Bears and relaxing with a cold Budweiser in hand.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dot; daughter, Hannah Van Housen; stepdaughters, Shelly and Missy; brothers, Jay Van Housen and John (Sharon) Van Housen; nieces, Casey Van Housen and Katie (Mike) Munaco; and great-nieces, Oliva and Mia Munaco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Shirley Van Housen.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, April 18th from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Syracuse Country Club located at 266 W 9th St. Syracuse, NE.
