James "Jim" "Chief" H. Hillman was born on January 31, 1947 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Harold & Lorene (Siemers) Hillman. He passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and 4 days.
James was involved with the American Legion and the VFW. He worked for Hawkins Construction and as a truck driver. He served in Vietnam between 1967 and 1969 and received the purple heart.
James is survived by a Brother: Ron & Kathy Hillman of Otoe, NE, Sister: Bev & Larry Panko of Syracuse, NE, Nieces & Nephews: Jeff & Cheryl Panko, Jenniffer Panko-Rahe & Larry Rahe, Kenny Hillman & Kristi Wilkinson, Kevin & Melissa Hillman, 11 Great Nephews & Nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch) with burial in the First Lutheran (North Branch) Cemetery Rural, Avoca, Nebraska. The family suggests memorials to the family's choice.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6 until 8 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch)
The family suggests casual dress for the funeral.
