James Murray Cross, age 94 of Louisville, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at the Glen Haven Home in Glenwood, Iowa. He was born on January 3rd, 1930, in Auburn, Nebraska, to James Otto and Florence Vivian (Bacon) Cross.
He was united in marriage in 1950 to Imogene Anderson in Auburn, Nebraska and together they had five children, James, Charlotte, Sandra, Cathlean and Kenneth. Shortly after marriage, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country from 1950-1954. Upon his discharge, he dedicated more than 30 years of his career working in Plant Maintenance at Allied Chemical Company, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence and teamwork. His work ethic was a testament to the values he upheld throughout his life.
James was a man of strong faith and an active member of Louisville Methodist Church. His passions extended beyond his church community; he was a familiar face at the Cornhusker Country Music Theater. James found joy in simple pleasures such as playing bingo and pull tabs, dancing, roller skating, and sitting on the park bench watching people. He also had a fondness for watching wrestling on TV, particularly RFD TV.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Cross; his parents, James Otto and Florence Vivian Cross; a daughter, Charlotte Robin Cross; daughter-in-law, Leslie Adkins; and siblings, Don Cross, Eula Jane Bennett, Margaret Cross, Granville Cross, and Fred Cross.
He is survived by his children, James C. (Lynnette) Adkins of Plattsmouth, NE, Sandra L. (Dale) McCurdy of Glenwood, IA, Cathlean A. Goodman of Glenwood, IA, and Kenneth R. Adkins of Plattsmouth, NE. James was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Cross of Nebraska City, NE, and his sister, Janice Maybee of Florida.
Visitation will be held at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Louisville, NE, on Thursday, December 12th, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service to celebrate James's life will be held at Louisville Methodist Church in Louisville, NE, on Friday, December 13th, 2024, at 10:30 am with Pastor Jim Bendorf officiating.
In honor of James's memory, donations can be made to the family for future designation.
