James Gustav "Jim" Olsen was born on August 13, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska to Viggo C. and Mildred M. (Swanberg) Olsen. He passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 39 days.

Jim grew up and graduated from Nebraska City High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He enlisted in the United States Army serving during peace time. He owned and operated the Otoe Concrete Products facility in Nebraska City for more than 25 years, during which time he was active with the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Eagles Club, Elks Club and the American Legion. After retirement, he moved to California where we did freelance work with computers for various companies.

In his younger years, he obtained a private pilot's license and enjoyed time flying around the area. He also enjoyed photography and helping with various community events.

He is survived by his Daughter: Karen Driever of Syracuse, Son: Brian (Andrea) Olsen of Mission Viejo, CA, Grandchildren: Jasper Keran, Bradley Driever, Kelson Driever, Luke Olsen, Shean Olsen, Brothers: Dr. Viggo B. (Joan) Olsen of El Torro, CA, Dr. Charles (Patricia) Olsen of Potomac, MD, Mother of their children: Bev Hawk of Syracuse

He was preceded in death by his Parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 P.M. on Friday October 10 at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse, Nebraska.
