James Sylvester Royal was born September 28, 1923, at home in rural Palmyra, Nebraska, to Herman and Elizabeth (Kempkes) Royal. He passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center, in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 17 days.

Jim married Arva Wallen on January 9, 1945, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Palmyra, Nebraska, and to this union they raised Donita, Linda, and Richard. He Farmed for many years, and was a Member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church, in Syracuse, Nebraska. Jim loved fishing, and telling or pulling a good joke.

Jim is survived by his wife Arva, of Unadilla, NE, daughter and son-in-law Donita Hallowell and Allen, of Palmyra, NE, Linda Boyce and Jerry of Lincoln, NE, son and daughter-in-law Richard Royal and wife Rosan of Unadilla, NE, sister Marie Maahs, , brother Laurence, Raymond (Tom) and wife Marion, sisters-in-law Doris Royal Catherine Royal, Helen Luff, of Unadilla, NE.

Jim is preceded in death his parents, Herman and Elizabeth, grandson James Boyce, siser Gertrude Van Meter, Louise Fenn, Magdolin Smith, brothers Leo, Herman, Roy, and Lloyd.

Funeral Services will be Friday, January 16th, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Burial will be at Parkhill Cemetery, Syracuse, Nebraska. ROSARY Thursday, January 15, at 7:00 P.M. both at St. Paulinus Catholic Church, Syracuse, NE

Visitation will be Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 10:30 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home, then at Church from 6:00 P.M. until time of the ROSARY
