Janice Ann Barnes, age 82, of Louisville, Nebraska passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, at her home. She was born on July 16th, 1942, in South Bend, Nebraska, to John Christian Graham and Hulda Ida Clara (Bornman) Graham.
A proud graduate of Louisville High School's class of 1960. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Dennis Barnes on November 19,1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church. After working briefly for Boys Town, Janice dedicated 50 years of her life to the Louisville Public Schools.
Janice's faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Murdock, NE. Her culinary talents were legendary. Her exceptional skills in pie making won many Championship awards at the County Fair. Janice delighted in baking cinnamon rolls for her family and friends, a testament to her generous and caring nature. She had a passion for gardening, canning, and flowers. In her youth, she enjoyed art and playing softball. Above all, Janice took immense joy in caring for her family and friends.
Janice is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Barnes, and their children, Denise (Kim) Woodward of Broken Bow, NE, and Justin (Jennifer) Barnes of Louisville, NE. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Taylor (Michelle) Woodward, Tara (Arendt) Woodward Bosman, Tanya (Luke Walkenhorst) Woodward, Jaxson Barnes, Jager Barnes, and Justus Barnes, along with her great-grandchildren, Eliana and Kaden Woodward. Janice is also survived by her sister, Lucille Strode of Las Vegas, NV, and her sisters-in-law, Linda Graham of Colorado and Joyce Kahland of Arizona, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Hulda Graham and siblings, Francis Graham, Leland Graham, Virgil (Ruth) Graham, Alberta (Jerry) McKinstry, Bernadine (LeRoy) Derby, and brothers-in-law, Don Strode and Robert Kahland.
Visitation will be held at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Louisville, NE, on Friday, January 10th, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, followed by a Prayer Service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Murdock, NE, at 6:00 PM, followed by visitation until 8:00 PM, with the family greeting friends. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, at 10:30 am.
