Janice M. Keen, 83, passed away September 24, 2026, at Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, NE. She was born in Nebraska City, NE on May 27, 1943, to Herman C. & Caroline F (Schneider) Keen. She grew up on her parent’s farm northwest of Talmage and attended school through the 8th grade at Keen School, Dist. 88. She graduated from Talmage High School in 1960.

Janice was a life-time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ (now St. John’s Evangelical). She was baptized August 22, 1943, by Pastor H. Strasburg and confirmed April 14, 1957, by Pastor Lewis Marx. She was very active in church serving as Sunday School teacher/Superintendent, singing in the choir and served as church Financial Secretary for many years.

She lived on the family farm until the passing of her parents. In 1974, she moved to Talmage where she began working at The Bank of Talmage in the fall of 1960. She retired after 46 years of service. She was also known for helping elderly residents in town. After retirement, Janice moved to Syracuse where she worked at Good Samaritan Society for three years.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald W. Keen. Janice is survived by nieces Earlene & Donna; nephews Ronald & Steven; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, October 1 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Church (McWilliams) in rural Talmage. Burial will follow at St. John’s Evangelical Cemetery.
