J.C. Nisely was born on May 27, 1927 in North Platte, Nebraska to John Francis Nisely & Sarah Katherine Harvison. He passed away on February 13, 2013 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 8 months, and 17 days.
J.C. started school in Sunnyside Washington and graduated from North Platte High School in 1945. When he was growing up he spent the summers at his grandparents farm in Edger, Nebraska. J.C. signed up for the Navy before he graduated from high school and served from 1945 until 1947.
J.C. married Norma Jean Gore on May 2, 1948 at the United Methodist Church in Syracuse, Nebraska. Together they had four children, Jay, Patrick, Robert and Scott. He was hired by Eastern Nebraska Public Power District on September 10, 1948. It became Omaha Public Power District in January of 1965. He worked there for 44+ years when he retired on December 1, 1992. He belonged to the American Legion Post #100 in Syracuse, Nebraska.
He is survived by: wife of 65 years Norma Jean of Syracuse, NE, sons Jay (Vicki), Patrick (Ellen), of Lincoln, NE, & Robert (Marlene) of Erie, CO, Grandchildren Jason (Audra), Brandon (Amber) & Justin (Andrea) Nisely and Sarah (Nate) Swinton, great grandchildren Jordan Nisely, Gavin Nisely, Avonleah Nisely, Mariah Nisely, Miranda Nisely, Cayleigh Swinton, Joshua Swinton, Maggie Swinton, Scott Nisely, and Aidan Nisely, daughter-in-law Geri Nisely, of Marshalltown, IA, and sisters-in-law Jean Nisely, of Sunnyside, WA, Linda Hunter, of Omaha, NE, and Patty Hunter, of Aurora, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Milo and Clinton, infant son and son Scott, brothers-in-law Lawrence and Gerald Hunter.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 16, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the Syracuse United Methodist Church or the Syracuse Food Pantry.
Visitation will be held on Friday February 15th from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
