Jean Elizabeth (Manchester) Boehm, 94, died April 3, 2014, at Southlake Village, Lincoln, NE with her family at her side.
She was born December 1, 1919 on a farm near Wagstaff, Kansas, the daughter of DeWitt Clinton Manchester and May (Rhinehart) Manchester. She was a 1937 graduate of Paola High School. She attended the Ursuline Academy in Paola, Kansas and was a school teacher at two country schools near Wellsville & Louisburg, Kansas.
Jean and Edward Boehm were married May 15, 1940 and were married 65 years. To this union were born six children, Gwendolyn, Phillip, James Michael, Barbara, Mary and William Joseph.
Jean drove a school bus for Syracuse Dunbar Avoca Public Schools for 13 ½ years. She enjoyed her years as a school bus driver and is fondly remembered still by many of the Kindergarten students who rode home from school on her bus. Jean and Ed enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Pla Mor Ballroom and dancing to the Bobby Lane Orchestra.
Jean was a member of the Goldenrod Garden Club since 1970, a member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church & Altar Society. She always enjoyed Thursdays with Friends at the Senior Center for lunch and then quilting with the St. Paulinus Quilters in the afternoon.
In 2007 Jean moved to Syracuse. She enjoyed spending time with family & friends, Big Jim Bus trips & Friday nights at Go Kart Track, going to grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities, getting together with friends to play Tic, and Bingo.
She is survived by her children: Gwendolyn (Loren) Haveman of Murray, James Michael (Julie) Boehm of Walton, Barbara (Kevin) Kruse of Lincoln, Mary Neemann & special friend Monte Rasmussen of Lincoln, Bill Boehm & Fiancé Tanya Duba of Martell, Sister: Marion Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, 11 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, Special Goddaughter Loretta Teixeira of Syracuse.
Preceded in death by her parents: Dewitt & May Manchester, Husband: Edward, Brothers: Rayne Lambert Manchester, Byron Manchester, Son: Phillip Boehm.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday April 8 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday April 7 from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. at the funeral home, resuming at 6:00 P.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church with a Altar Society Rosary at 6:30 and a Parish Rosary at 7:00 P.M. followed by family receiving friends.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paulinus Parish Hall Fund.
