Obituary
Jessie E. Johnson was born on December 11, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Yancy & Pearl Johnson. He entered the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 after a long fought battle with cancer. Jess had obtained the age of 57 years and 11 months.
Jess grew up in the Houston area and at age 17, he entered the United States Air Force. His time in the Air Force took him around the world. His career spanned 20 years during which he obtained the rank of Major and was among the few that piloted both the Looking Glass & E4B Airplanes. While in the Air Force he met Pamela Beattie, they fell in love and where married on March 20, 1971 in the San Francisco, California area. After retiring from the Air Force, Jess was hired by United Airlines as a Pilot in May of 1990. He continued to fly for United until health concerns prohibited him from flying in 2007.
Jess was a dedicated husband and father. He and Pam raised three children, Jennifer, Robert and Michael. He enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family, helping with projects or just talking. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life. He held a special place of each of them in his heart, and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his ninth grandchild who will be his namesake.
He is survived by his Wife: Pam Johnson of Plattsmouth, NE; Daughter: Jennifer Peter and husband Marc of Boone, IA; 2 Sons: Robert Johnson and wife Jennifer of Falls Church, VA; Michael Johnson and wife Erica of Plattsmouth, NE; Grandchildren: Kyle, Sydney & Regan Peter; Jordan, Broderick & Rhiannon Johnson; Quinten, Creighton & Jesse Johnson. Sister: Alice Bongers of Houston, TX; Brother: James Johnson of Hardinsburg, KY. He also survived by other family and a host of friends.
FUNERAL: Friday, 11:00 A.M. – Living Water Church, 1623 S. 15th Street, Plattsmouth, NE.
VISITATION: Thurs. 1 – 9 PM with family greeting friends from 6 – 8 PM at Living Water Church.
