Jim Ossenkop was born May 2, 1936 in Louisville, Nebraska to John and Marie (McKinstry) Ossenkop. He died peacefully at his home in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 12 days.
Jim served in the United States Navy and married Jean Miner, on May 12, 1957, in Springfield, Nebraska and to this union they raised 3 daughters Cheryl, Katie, and Jennifer. He enjoyed The Boston Red Soxs, Nebraska Football, the Alaskan Iditarod, and coaching for the Millard Softball Association.
Jim is survived by his daughters Cheryl Ossenkop Downing, of Omaha, NE, Katie (Mike) Hanson, of Omaha, NE, and Jennifer (Matt) Hudspeth, of Tulsa, Oklahoma 8 grandchildren Andrea (Russ) Boll, Maddie Hudspeth, Christian Downing, Tyler Downing, Grace Hanson, Keely Hudspeth, Sophie Hudspeth, Alix Hudspeth, and 1 great granddaughter Millie Boll, along with his sisters Marilyn (Carl) Schielfert, of Omaha, NE, and Ruth (Jon) Carpenter, of Des Moines, IA.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents: John & Marie (McKinstry) Ossenkop wife: Jean Miner Ossenkop, brothers Bob Ossenkop, and John (Fritz) Ossenkop.
Funeral Service: Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 2:00 P.M at the Fusselman Allen Harvey Funeral Home 413 Elm Street, Louisville, Nebraska, with burial at Riverview Cemetery, Louisville, Nebraska. Family suggest memorials to Boys Town.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at funeral home
