IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joann
Quam
September 9, 1936 – April 30, 2025
JoAnn Mary Quam, age 88, of Louisville, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
JoAnn was born on September 9, 1936, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to John "Jack" and Agnes (LeDocq) Gillick. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1954, where she met the love of her life, Eugene "Buff" Quam. They were married on June 4, 1955, at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church, beginning a remarkable journey together that spanned just 35 days short of 70 years. Their enduring love will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew them.
Together, JoAnn and Buff raised three children: Heidi, Jodie, and Erik. Family was the heart of JoAnn's world. She never missed a concert, play, or competition, and was a constant presence in her children's lives. Her love extended deeply into the next generation, where she cherished every moment spent with her six granddaughters.
JoAnn had a long and fulfilling career in the medical field, specializing in insurance. Outside of work, she poured her energy into her passions—gardening, cooking, and baking. She was especially known for her beautiful, crocheted afghan blankets, lovingly made for every wedding, birth, and special occasion in the lives of those she cared for.
She found joy in family trips, simple pleasures, and quiet moments surrounded by those she loved. Her nurturing spirit, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family leave a legacy that will be cherished for generations.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Buff; daughter, Heidi Mashuda; son, Erik Quam and his wife, Sara, all of Louisville; and her six granddaughters, Gretchen (Matt) Savina of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and Eva, Beatrice, Matilda, Olive, and Willa Quam of Louisville. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Lloyd) Dellise.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jodie Quam; parents, John "Jack" and Agnes Gillick; son-in-law, Tim Mashuda; and sister, Barbara Wilke.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at Shiloh Moravian Church Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in JoAnn's memory to the Louisville High School One Act, honoring her steadfast support for youth, the arts, and education.
