John A. Brandt, 76 of Syracuse, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was born on January 14, 1947, to John W. & Emma (Huhold) Brandt in Nebraska City. On February 21, 1969, John married Janis Brammeier at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) in rural Cook.

John primarily worked as a mechanic for Strong Bros Chevrolet for 30+ years, as well as working as the golf course superintendent for Syracuse Country Club. He later drove truck for farmers and ag companies. John served his country for 6 years in the Air National Guard and later led a Boy Scout troop in Syracuse. Some of his greatest loves were taking his kids and grandchildren water skiing and he was able to achieve senior boat driver status with USA Water Ski Association. John enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife Jan Brandt; children Jen (Mike) Davis, Jason (Raela) Brandt; grandchildren Lauren & Kelci Davis, Payton & Charlie Brandt; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Kathi (Dennis) Saathoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Mardell (Harold) Seeba, Donald (Teresa) Brandt and Ruth (Bob) Armknecht.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13 from 5-7 p.m. with family greeting friends at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
