John G. Staack, 91 of Syracuse, passed away on January 4, 2017 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse. He was born on November 3, 1925 to Frank & Winifred (Marquis) Staack on their farm north of Syracuse.

John graduated from Otoe High School. On March 2, 1947 he married Mary Huber in the Wyoming Methodist Church in Wyoming, NE. John worked as a farmer and then drove the school bus for 20 years. He was involved with the Elks in Nebraska City, Otoe Elevator Board, St. John's Church board and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. John enjoyed fishing, playing cards, drinking Coke and was an avid Husker fan. He was also a very devoted husband and father.

John is survived by his Wife: Mary Staack of Syracuse; Daughters: Paula (Steve) Aquino of Las Cruces, NM, Linda (John) Lamski of St. Paul, MN; 4 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Wilma Niedermeyer.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter: Kathryn Marie Staack; Siblings: Etta, Eunice, Glen; Brother-in-law: Harvey Niedermeyer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe, NE. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe.
