Judy Laine McConnell age 82, of Omaha, NE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2024.. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on May 17, 1942, to  parents John V. and Irene I. (Menke) Weichel.

Judy graduated from Alvo High School and pursued her passion for education at Peru State where she earned her teaching degree. She began her career as a dedicated teacher before transitioning into a successful career as an accountant. Her commitment and precision in her work were admired by all who worked with her.  Judy had a zest for life, with a variety of interests and activities that kept her engaged and spirited. From her early days of barrel racing and her enduring love for all things horses to her passion for bingo, crafts, and trivia game shows.  Her love for playing cards and games created countless joyful moments with family and friends.

Judy is survived by her children: Thomas (Lisa) Frerichs of Poulsbo, WA, Jonathan (Ginger) McConnell of Omaha, NE, and Kelly McConnell of Tecumseh, NE.  her cherished grandchildren: Michael Frerichs, Christopher Frerichs, Tiffany Haug, Jacob McConnell, Justin McConnell, Matthew Stachura, Laura Alexander, and Wyatt Frerichs, as well as her 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her  brother Johnny (Cathy) Weichel of Lincoln, NE along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lynn McConnell, and siblings Jeannette Mohlman, Jack Weichel, and Jimmy Weichel.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Elmwood, Nebraska  .

Memorial donations in Judy's memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation.
