Karen D. Saunders, 51 of Syracuse, passed away August 22, 2017 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She was born on May 19, 1966 in Davenport, IA to Robert & Dorothy (Estes) Munson.

Karen graduated from UNL with dual bachelors in Political Science and History. She also had a masters in History. Karen married Lee Saunders on September 25, 1992 in Lincoln. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Palmyra, Neb. Society of Mayflower descendants and the Syracuse Hospital Aux. She also volunteered at the Otoe County Fair.

She is survived by her Husband: L. Lee Saunders of Syracuse; Brother: Robert Munson of Germany; also many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Chapel in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the UNMC Buffett Cancer Center.
