Obituary

Kelly Marie Chriswisser, 38, of Omaha, passed away May 29, 2026, at CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. She was born September 21, 1987 to Wayne and Theresa (Hobbs) Chriswisser.

Kelly grew up in the Louisville area, attending Louisville Public Schools for both elementary and high school, graduating with the class of 2005. After high school, Kelly attended cosmetology school and was a beautician at her own shop in Louisville for many years. She ultimately decided her true passion was nursing.

Kelly was known for her quick wit, magnetic personality, wonderful sense of humor and the ability to find joy and make others laugh, even during difficult times. She loved music, adored her cats, and was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She could be stubborn when she believed in something, but that determination is matched by a heart as big as the moon.

Kelly's strength and determination was never more evident than when she continued to earn her nursing degree while making sure to prioritize and support her Mom through her battle with cancer.

That determination ultimately led to a career she loved as an Operating Room Nurse on the Neurosurgery/ENT Team at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she combined skill, compassion, resilience, and dedication in caring for her patients every day.

Her caring nature was the foundation of her career as a nurse. In a final act of compassion, she chose to be an organ donor, including the gift of her heart, continuing to care for others even after her passing.

Kelly is survived by her father, Wayne Chriswisser of Nehawka, NE, grandmother, Margaret Hobbs of Papillion, NE, uncles and aunts, Bev (Bob Labenz) Maier of Louisville, NE, Jeff (Lisa) Hobbs of Gretna, NE, Cheryl (Joe) Smisek of Gretna, NE, David (Denise) Hobbs of Louisville, NE, Jane Hobbs of Gretna, NE, Mary (Chris) Bland of Papillion, NE, Tim Hobbs of Papillion, NE. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers.

Kelly was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Chriswisser, and her grandparents, Bud and Ana Marie Chriswisser, and John Hobbs.

In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Nebraska Humane Society.

The family will have a private service followed by burial in Glendale Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 14 from 1 - 4 PM at Sparks Barn, 13817 108th St., Louisville, NE 68037.
