Kenneth Henry Herman Werner was born on February 24, 1930 in Syracuse, NE to William and Elsie (Bartels) Werner. He passed peacefully at Good Samaritan Center, Syracuse, on Thursday, August 18 at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 25 days.
Kenneth was baptized on March 23, 1930 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at Luther Memorial Church, Syracuse. His confirmation verse was John 10:11; I am the Good Shepard, the Good Shepard giveth His life for the sheep.
He married on October 1, 1950 to Mildred (Buchholz) Werner at First Lutheran Church (North Branch) Avoca, and they worked together for 40 years on their dairy farm and farmed for 46 years on the family farm near Syracuse before retiring to Syracuse in 1996. Kenneth & Mildred enjoyed taking vacations and going to dances and made many lifelong friends at these events. In 2001, Kenneth and Mildred served as the GermanFest King and Queen.
Kenneth was a member of the Luther Memorial Church Council, Sons of the Legion, Elks & Eagles and was a seed corn dealer for many years. He enjoyed spending time playing cards with family and friends and cherished spending time with all his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and in-laws. He was especially proud of his "boys".
He is survived by his "boys" - Jerry (Rhae) Werner, Dennis (Janelle) Werner, Arlyn (Julie) Werner, Randy (Wendy) Werner all of Syracuse. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21 from Noon until 9 P.M. and Monday, August 22 from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M. at the funeral home. Family will greet friends Monday, August 22 from 5-7 P.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church at 1162 Mohawk St. in Syracuse with a Prayer Service to follow at 7 P.M. Funeral Service will be Tuesday August 23, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Burial will follow at Park Hill Cemetery.
