Landis Rulla Sr. was born July 6, 1913, in Sterling, Nebraska, to J. Gottlieb and Martha (Lehrack) Rulla. He passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Goldcrest Retirement Center, in Adams, Nebraska, at the age of 96 years, 6 months, and 17 days.
Landis married Lena J. Davis, on June 2, 1936, at St. John's American Lutheran Church, in Sterling, Nebraska, and to this union they raised 4 children, Mary, Ruth Lanny, and Charles. Landis & Lena had a General Stores in Burr, Douglas, & Dawson, Nebraska, then moved to a farm South of Douglas, Nebraska, in 1946 & farmed for many years. They also lived in Sterlin, Nebraska while his wife Lena taught School, and Landis was active in Community activities. Landis was an active Mason & Eastern Star member. He belonged to the Lincoln, Nebraska Scottish Rite & Sesostris Shrine, drivig his Red Mustang & traveling with the Mustang Unit was real important part of his life & loved every minute of it, as well as all the members. He was a ccurrent Jordan Medal Recipient of Union Lodge of Palmyra, nebraska, member of the Douglas Methodist Church & the Capital City Past Matron & Patron meetings.
Landis is survived by his daughter Mary & husband Bill Heusman, of Edinburg, TX & Eddyville, NE, Ruth & husband Jerry Neeman, of Syracuse, NE, sons Lanny & wife Kathleen Rulla, of Sterling, NE, and Charles Rulla, of Palmyra, NE, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, sister Edith Decker, of South Haven, MI also survived by many nieces & nephews, which he loved and a host of good friends that will mourn his passing.
Landis is preceded in death by his parents 5 sisters wife Lena J. Rulla, grandson Tom Heusman great grandson Zachary Heusman.
NO Visitation or Viewing reference Cremation. Memorials are suggested to Douglas United Methodist Church or the Mustang Unit of the Sesostris Shrine, of Lincoln, NE.
A Memorial Services will be held at a later date when all the family can be present.
