Larry Joseph Johnson was born on June 15, 1952 to Ralph Andrew and Shirley Ann (Wilken) Johnson at Lake Charles, Louisiana. He died on November 26, 2016 at his home of 28 years in Louisville, NE at the age of 64
years, 5 months, and 11 days.
Larry graduated from Millard South High School in 1970. He served his country by joining the Navy in 1972.
He married Lillian Allen on April 12, 1974 and was blessed with three children – Erica Marie, Jamie Lee, and Jennifer Ann. This family, along with Lillian's son, Steve Allen moved to South Bend, Nebraska in 1976 when Larry was discharged from the Navy. Larry attended University of Nebraska – Omaha for creative writing. Larry was an avid reader all his life, enjoyed telling stories and reminiscing immensely. He was a history buff and lover of trivia.
Larry and Jeneane Watkins were united in marriage on November 8, 1986 in Omaha, Nebraska. They spent most of their 30 years together in Louisville. They were blessed with two sons – Eddie Lawrence, who died of SIDS at 5 weeks, and Benjamin Douglas. Larry loved mechanic work, and was a diesel mechanic by occupation. He was a member of American Legion Post #353. He was a music lover and enjoyed being a DJ locally and playing his guitar, often to the family dog Rascal that was his constant companion in his shop. He also enjoyed Black Powder Gun Competitions and target shooting with his sons and friends. Always had a smile and was friendly to everyone. He could often be seen sitting on the Legion bench enjoying his cigarette watching the world go by.
Larry is survived by wife Jeneane, son Ben, and mother Shirley, all of Louisville, NE. son- Jamie Johnson, daughters – Erica, and Jennifer, all of Omaha. Grandchildren – Brooke, Heather, Jayden, Gracie, and Ema. Brothers - Randy of Arkansas and Rick of Cedar Creek, NE.
He was preceded in death by infant son Eddie Lawrence Johnson in 1998, father Ralph Andrew Johnson in 1991, and grandparents – Rowena and Hubert Wilken and Mary Lyons.
Memorial Services: Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1:00 at the First United Methodist Church, Louisville, NE No visitation due to cremation. American Legion Auxiliary will serve luncheon from 2-4 pm with remembrance following downstairs. Burial will be with family at Sheridan United Methodist Cemetery in Iowa. Family suggests memorials
