Obituary

Laura Lucille (Thomas) Stohlmann, 93 of Louisville, NE died September 13, 2009 in Norton, MA. She was born July 20, 1916 on a farm near Hepburn, Page County, IA to John and Anna Maria (Warner) Thomas. She attended Valley Township School, Clarinda Public School, Milton Public School, and graduated from Cantril High School in 1932. She went to work in Omaha where she met Clarence Stohlmann and they were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Louisville, NE on September 4, 1938, from this marriage three children were born. Clarence and Laura continued to live in Omaha until 1945 when they moved to Louisville, NE.

Laura worked as the bookkeeper at Dumke Stohlmann Lumber Co., Louisville Lumber Co., and the Trade Well Co. of which she was part owner. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was the Chairman of the Election Board in Louisville for many years and was active in the Republican Party and the Republican Women's Club, Tuesday Night Club, The Extension Club and PTA. She was a leader in Cub Scouts and 4-H, and Girl Scouts. Laura was a member of the Cass Count Fair Board and was one of the food judges so many years.

She is survived by her children John and Judi Stohlmann of Benbrook, TX, Judith and Neil Kasten of Norton, MA, and Joan and Walter Teachworth of Calistoga, CA; grandchildren, CDR Erik and Paulette Stohlmann of Stuttgart, Germany, Robert and Suzanne Stohlmann of Keller TX, Scott Stohlmann of Dallas, TX, Jayne and Dr. Alexander Pantschenko of Amston, CT, Michael and Stephanie Kasten of Grand Island, NE, Christopher Teachworth of Galveston, TX and Laura Teachworth of New York, NY; great grandchildren, Zakary Stohlmann of Stuttgart, Germany, Austin and Andrew Stohlmann of Keller, TX, Todd Steele and Emma Pantschenko of Amston, CT Cooper Kasten, of Grand Island, NE; sister, Muriel Maddox, brother-in-law, Ellsworth and Doris Stohlmann of Blue Springs, MO, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents; her sisters; Mildred Erzinger, Thelma Kile, Martha Johnston, Christine Gould, & Mary Louise James and brother, Warner Thomas.

Visitation will be Friday, September 18, 2009, from 5 until 9 P.M., at the Fusselman Wymore Funeral Home, 413 Elm, Louisville, NE.

Funeral will be Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with interment following at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
