Lavern A. Smith, 90, of Filley formerly of Syracuse passed away on January 9, 2014 at his home. Lavern was born in Cook, NE on August 19, 1923 to Harry & Alvina (Behrens) Smith.
Lavern married Donna Schoene on May 2, 1946. She passed away on December 15, 1974. Lavern then married Vina Richards on May 29, 1989. She passed away on October 20, 2013. Lavern worked as a farmer his whole life.
He is survived by his Daughter: Carol (Doyle) Noerrlinger, Sons: Randy (Pam) Smith, Gary (Annette) Smith, Kevin (Ursula) Smith, Step Daughter: Barbara (George) Weiss, 16 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wives: Donna & Vina and 2 Brothers.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday January 14, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse, NE. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in rural Cook, NE.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
