LaVerta H. Thummel, 88 of Otoe, passed away July 26, 2018 at her home. She was born on April 18, 1930 to John & Frieda (Ross) Tipken in Nebraska City.

LaVerta married Robert E. Thummel on September 26, 1950 in Otoe. Her and Robert owned the Thummel Grocery Store in Otoe. She was active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe and also belonged to the ELCW. LaVerta enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her Daughter: Beverly White of Otoe; Son: Bradley (Mary) Thummel of Nebraska City; Grandchildren: Ryan (Susan) White, Sean (Jess) White, Lindsey (Matt) Scheinost, Trentin Thummel, Karrie Mead, Seranna (Tyrone) Godfrey; 6 Great Grandchildren also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband: Robert Thummel Sr., Son: Robert Thummel Jr., Brother: Ralph Tipken and Sister: Irene Wallace.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe. Burial will be the Otoe cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 29 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
