Leo J. Horn age 85 of Weeping Water, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the Louisville Care Center. He was born on October 4, 1934 in Nehawka, Nebraska to Alvin M. and Clara E. (Ehlers) Horn.
Leo grew up on the family farm near Weeping Water and graduated from Weeping Water High School in 1952. Shortly after he enlisted in the United States Army serving two years. He returned to Weeping Water where he began his farming career. Leo met and was married to Valara Meisinger on August 10, 1958 at Christ Lutheran Church in Rural Louisville.
Leo was one of the original members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Weeping Water, where he served in a variety of leadership roles throughout the years. He remained active in the Weeping Water Community serving 12 years on the School Board, 4 years on the NRD Board and many years on the Rural Fire Board.
His life reflected his love of farming and caring for this land. He was a kind and generous man who found joy in helping others and always greeted friends with a big smile. Throughout the years, he enjoyed traveling with Valara and friends, bowling, and skiing. He enjoyed time with his family especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leo is survived by his wife, Valara Horn of Weeping Water, NE, daughter, Sheri (Mark) Wieden of Blue Springs, NE, sons, Alan (Denise) Horn of Weeping Water, NE, Gary (Jeff Thorp) Horn of Josephine, TX, grandchildren, Megan (Garrett) Leithoff, Matthew Wieden, Michaela Horn, Eric Horn, great grandchildren, Lucas, Lane & Levi Leithoff. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Raymond.
Private Family Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Weeping Water, NE with Rev. Jon Sollberger officiating.
Public Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Oakwood Cemetery in Weeping Water, NE, followed by Lunch and Fellowship at the Cass County Fair Grounds.
Visitation, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
