Leonard J. Phillips, 76, of Lincoln, NE, passed away September 30, 2018 in Lincoln. He was born on December 7, 1941 to Curley Arms & Alma Phillips in Friendship, OH and was raised in Portsmouth, OH.
Growing up he was a member of the boy scouts and worked at the local bowling alley. He loved blueberries and would roam the hills picking and eating them. He spent many summers in Kentucky with his aunt and uncle.
Leonard served in the Army where he earned his GED and was stationed in Greenland, Alaska and Crete, NE.
He married Merna Robertson on May 18, 1969 in Waverly, NE. He worked as a mechanical engineer specializing in tool and die making. They lived in Lincoln, NE, Hastings, NE and Cheyenne, WY; returning to Lincoln in 1996 when he started a home inspection business.
Leonard enjoyed camping, square dancing and riding his motorcycle. In his later years, he enjoyed watching historical documentaries, collecting eagle figurines and taking things apart to learn how they worked.
He is survived by his wife Merna Phillips; children Christie Walbridge, Rick Phillips, Cindy Marshalek, Debbie Phillips, Lori (Jason) Hunter; sisters Priscilla (Joe) Phipps, Patty (Richard) Brown; 12 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother & father.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 5th from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Elmwood, NE located at 113 W 'D' St.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6th at 2 P.M. at the Elmwood Cemetery in Elmwood, NE. Following the service friends and family will be gathering at the Elmwood Community Center located at 144 1/2 N 4th St, Elmwood, NE.
