Lesly Berner was born on August 16, 1923 in Rural Avoca, NE to John and Mary (Ottens) Berner. He passed away on October 24, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, NE at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 8 days.

Lesly married LaVerta Rohlfs on October 4, 1945 and to this union they raised 5 children, Fred, Steve, Brad, Brenda, and Betty. He previously served on the District 87 school board and the North Branch Church council. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, listening to Polka music, Dancing, taking trips with LaVerta, spending time and visiting with his family. One of his favorite hobbies was farming and he spent most of his life caring for his land.

Lesly is survived by Sons: Fred Berner and wife Phyllis of Avoca, NE, Steve Berner and wife Julie of Las Vegas, NV, Brad Berner and wife Robin of Avoca, NE, Daughters: Brenda Copley and husband Bill of Syracuse, NE, Betty Fries and husband Jim of Holland, NE, 12 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, Sisters: Margaret and husband Glen Stubbendick of Syracuse, NE and Pauline and husband Allen Hauschild of Avoca, NE, Brother: Roy and wife Imo Berner of Syracuse, NE

Lesly was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years LaVerta , Brother John Berner and Parents

Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch), Rural Avoca, NE

VISITATION will be Tuesday from 5:00 P.M until 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M to 9:00 P.M with the family greeting friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. all at the Funeral Home Condolences may be sent to fusselmanallenharvey.com


Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery (North Branch) in Rural Avoca, NE
