Obituary

Linda (Adkins) Pauli, 84 of Elkhorn, Nebraska, passed away March 8, 2026. She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to John and Nora (Butts) Adkins on February 13, 1942. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High school in Council Bluffs. She began a career in the Federal Service, working for the Corps of Engineers in Omaha, Nebraska prior to becoming a housewife. On May 16, 1964, she married Edwin Pauli of Omaha. Together Ed and Linda welcomed two sons and a daughter. She became a full-time mother in 1965. In 1973, they moved to Murdock, Nebraska where they remained for nearly 50 years. In 1975, they suffered the loss of their eldest child at the tender age of 10.

Linda was an involved citizen in this small community. She loved belonging to the women’s Murdock Moderns group. Other activities included volunteering with band mothers at school, her daughter’s 4 -H club and at the local library. She assisted in local and federal elections and helped with the town 4th of July celebration in the 80s. Linda loved to garden, cook and was known to make a few good pies and desserts. She also pursued higher education by taking courses at the community college. She loved to travel, especially on Road Scholar journeys which included an educational topic. She had fun taking her grandchildren on trips, especially introducing them to train travel on AmTrak.

Linda returned to work in the Federal Service after raising the children and enjoyed 20 years working as a secretary for the Criminal Investigation division of the IRS. She loved the work and the people very much and spoke about it well into her retirement. In retirement she learned how to play bridge and played both in town and with the Metro Women’s club in Omaha. Prior to being diagnosed with Parkinsonism in 2023, she had begun to slow down the active life she had enjoyed so much.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, brother, two sisters and her son, Jay. She is survived by her husband, Edwin; son, Patrick Pauli (Kim); daughter Leah Bochnicek (Tim), seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
