Lloyd K. Seelhoff, 84 of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on March 10, 1939, to Ervin & LaVerne (Stubbendieck) Seelhoff in rural Otoe. Lloyd attended country school at Dist. 38 known as Maple Grove and later graduated from Syracuse High School. Lloyd served his country in the Army Reserves for 9 years, reaching the rank of staff sgt.
On July 5, 1968, he married Marilyn Wagner at Luther Memorial in Syracuse. He worked as a mechanic at Stubbendick Implement in Syracuse for 43 years. Lloyd loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and raising a big garden to share with the neighbors. His generosity didn't stop with his garden produce, as he also started a neighborhood fish fry and would be found clearing snow or helping neighbors with yard work. For all his generosity, he was awarded the inaugural Good Neighbor Award from the Omaha World Herald. Lloyd also enjoyed playing in card clubs and most importantly spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son Mike (Janet) Seelhoff of Omaha; daughter: Laurie (Roger) Kuenning of Syracuse; grandchildren: Grace, Hope & Luke Kuenning of Syracuse, Benjamin Seelhoff of Omaha; siblings Wanda Freeman & partner Jim Cheney of Seattle, Gary Seelhoff of Unadilla; brother-in-law Glen Schweppe of Syracuse; also nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, sister Eunice Schweppe, brother-in-law Rodney Freeman, sister-in-law Barbara Seelhoff and nephew Christian Seelhoff.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Luther Memorial Church, NE YouTube page. Burial will follow at the Park Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home, then from 6-8 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
