Lorens John Ropers formerly of Elmwood, NE. passed away at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Nursing Home on April 9 th at the age of 98. Lorens was born on November 16, 1918 on a farm near Elmwood, NE to Albert Sr. and Sophia (Lutzemeyer) Ropers. Lorens was a farmer and served his country in World War II.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Herman, Elmer (Helen), Harry, Albert Jr. (Merna) and Willie; sisters: Irene, Clara (Walter) Kuhlmann, Hilda (Oren) Bruss, Letha (Glen) Cheney and Mabel (Dale) Cheney; nephews: Allen Bruss and Galen Cheney and special friend: Esther.
Survivors are seven nieces and spouses and eleven nephews and spouses and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Military funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church (North Branch) of rural Avoca, NE with Rev. David Buco officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11 from 9 A.M until 9 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers to be designation later.
