Lorenz Arthur Brammier was born on December 8, 1913 in Syracuse, Nebraska to Arthur C. and Clara W. (Lorenz) Brammeier. He passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Community Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 21 days.
Lorenz is a lifetime resident of the Syracuse and Cook areas. He was united in marriage on April 21, 1941 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse, Nebraska to Evelyn Brinkman, together they shared 68 years of marriage. Shortly after marriage the Brammeier's opened a meat locker in Cook, Nebraska which they operated for more than 30 years. After retiring from the meat cutting business, Lorenz sold and repaired Amana Appliances. After opening his business he went into the Army and served during WWII having to spend his first anniversary away from Evelyn.
Lorenz was active in his community and church. He served on the Church Board at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) for many years, the Cook School Board, Bickel-Nelson Post #360 American Legion and was a member of the Nebraska Locker Association. He and Evelyn enjoyed bowling and square dancing.
He is survived by his : Wife: Evelyn Brammeier of Syracuse, NE; Daughters: Janis Brandt and husband John of Syracuse, NE; Kathi Saathoff and husband Dennis of Adams, NE; 5 Grandchildren: Jen Davis and husband Mike of Gretna, NE; Jason Brandt and wife Raela of Fairbury, NE; Lisa Otto and husband Dean of Adams, NE; Kim Otto and husband Brian of Courtland, NE; Ryan Saathoff of Adams, NE; 6 Great Grandchildren; Brother-in-law: Dick & Verna Brinkman of Cook, NE; Laurence Royal of Unadilla, NE. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Ruth McWilliams; brothers: Louis, Dean and Vernon Brammeier
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) in rural Cook, NE with Rev. Curtis Rieger officiating.
Graveside Services will be held later that day at 2:00 P.M. at the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, NE
Visitation will begin Sunday, November 1st from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Monday, November 2nd from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM on Monday.
