Lowell Dean Rieke was born on January 13, 1941 to George and Leora (Faris) Rieke. He passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 surrounded by family at his home in Plattsmouth at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 16 days.
Lowell was rasied in Cass County and attended the Plattsmouth Schools graduating in 1958 he went on to attend some Business School. He was united in marriage on October 25, 1963 to Pauline "Kate" Workman at the Murray Presbyterian Church in Murray, Nebraska and together they raised three children, Mark, Roger and Cathy.
Lowell went to work for Union Pacific and worked his way from a file clerk to diesel procurement. He retired in 1999 after having been with UP for over 40 years.
He kept busy with many things sucha as working for the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Plattsmouth. He also enjoyed bowling, leagues state and national tournaments. His highest bowling score was a 299. He enjoyed golfing, softball, baseball, playing cards, traveling, morning coffee with the yahoo's at Mom's Cafe and visiting with family and friends.
He Served on the Park Board, Civic Service, former member of the Plattsmouth City Council, Plattsmouth Country Club Board of Directors and one of the founding members. He also coached youth baseball programs for many years and played on many slow and fast pitch softball teams.
Lowell is survived by his Wife: Kate Rieke of Plattsmouth, NE; Sons: Mark Rieke; Roger Rieke and wife Sherri of Bellevue, NE; Daughter: Cathy McGraw and husband Buck of Plattsmouth, NE; Grandchildren: Brandon Rieke and Fiance Nikki; Michael Rieke, Dawn Rieke, Brody Rieke, Julie Rieke, Linda Nietfeld and husband Eric, Shelby McGraw, Jordan McGraw, Bryce McGraw; Great Grandchildren, Paige, Peyton and Eleanor Nietfeld, and expectant baby Tanner Dean Scott Nietfeld. Brothers: Wayne Rieke and wife JoNon of Grand Island, NE; Gary Rieke and wife Linda of Union, NE; Sister: Phyllis Kreglo and husband Darrell of Kansas City, MO. Also survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Many Friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE.
Vistation will be held Tuesday, September 2nd from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the family of Lowell Rieke.
