Luanna J. Bruns, 80 of Syracuse, passed away on October 18, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on October 19, 1941, in Nebraska City, to Lloyd & Theresa (Chiolino) Bassinger. On November 20, 1970, she married Richard Bruns in Fairbury.

Luanna worked at Pendelton's in Nebraska City for 32 years. After initially being diagnosed with cancer, she was able to live cancer free for 7 years. Unfortunately, the cancer returned this year. Throughout her treatments, Luanna always kept a positive attitude, showed immense strength, and never let on how hard the cancer battle was for her. She will be remembered for the love she shared with her family.

She is survived by her husband Richard Bruns of Syracuse; children Melissa (Douglas) Clark of Douglas, Richard Bruns Jr. & fiancé Katy Smith of Syracuse; grandchildren Samantha Clark & fiancé Austin Overman of Douglas, Skylar Clark of Lincoln, Cheyanne Bruns of Lincoln; great granddaughter Luanna Overman of Douglas; brother Carl Bassinger of Hamburg, IA; also numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Diane Bruns; sister Estelle Bassinger; brother Dana Bassinger and nephew Michael Bassinger.

Memorials services will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse. Burial will follow at the Otoe Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
