Luetta Dora Marie (Kruse) Bruns, 88 of Syracuse, formerly of Cook, was born on a farm northeast of Burr, NE on May 29, 1936, to Otto & Hulda (Blinde) Kruse. She passed away on March 16, 2025, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center.

Luetta was baptized on August 2, 1936, at home. On April 2, 1950, she was confirmed at St. Paul's UCC near Cook. Her baptism and confirmation were performed by Pastor Theo Pfundt. She attended Cherry Grove School Dist. 48 Otoe County for 8 years and graduated from Burr High School in 1954. She worked at the Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital for over 9 years. On May 24, 1964, she married Harvey Bruns at St. Paul's UCC (Osage) with Pastor Herbert Kuhns officiating. They lived in rural Pickrell for almost 2 years until they moved to a farm southwest of Cook in 1966. Together they were blessed with three daughters Jody, Lana, and Dawn. Harvey and Luetta ran a dairy farm for 25 years together while raising their girls. She then worked at Good Samaritan in Syracuse until retirement. She was an avid baker and gardener. After marriage she became a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Cook and served in many different capacities over the years.

She is survived by her daughters Jody Bruns of Syracuse, Lana Bruns & friend Bill Ramsey of Kiowa, Colorado, Dawn (Rusty) Sugden of Seward; grandchildren Karsten Bruns, Addilyn Sugden, Axton Sugden, Acelyn Sugden; brother Rinehart (Alice) Kruse; sisters-in-law Bernice Hale & Sue Bruns; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey, sister Burdine Nines, brother Fred Kruse, nephew Paul (Rick) Nines and niece Jennifer Kruse.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Cook. The service will be livestreamed on the Grace Lutheran Church Facebook page. Burial will follow at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the Syracuse Rescue Squad or Grace Lutheran Church.
