Lyle A. Stohlmann age 77 of Murdock, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 7, 1945, to August Steven Stohlmann, Jr., and Esther M. (Albert) Stohlmann.

Lyle grew up on the family farm near Louisville and graduated from Louisville High School in 1963.  Upon graduating, he enrolled in the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he obtained a bachelor's degree in education in 1967.  Shortly after his college graduation, he was commissioned as a 2 ^nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.  He attended pilot training and then was sent to Vietnam.  After leaving the Air Force, he continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard as a Helicopter Pilot, and again faithfully served his country during Operation Desert Shield and Storm.

When not serving his country, he helped continue the family tradition of farming near Murdock.  On May 23, 2018, Lyle was united in marriage to Linda May at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #353, a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and as a member of the Board of Elders.  He enjoyed woodworking and most importantly spending time with family.

Lyle is survived by his wife Linda May, children, Timothy (Carla) Stohlmann of Papillion, NE, Gerald (Michelle) Stohlmann of Ashland, NE, Kristina (John) Fortney of Ashland, NE, grandchildren, Evan (Harley) Stohlmann, Jake  Stohlmann, Rachel Fortney, Rebecca (Tyler) Moyer, Laura Fortney, Mason & Matthew Fortney, great grandchildren, Jazmin, Isaiah, Brooklyn & Brynnlee Stohlmann, siblings, Ervin (Mary Ann) Stohlmann of Murdock, NE, Richard (Diane) Stohlmann of Kansas City, KS, Ralph (Barbara) Stohlmann of Plattsmouth, NE, Elaine (Gary) Sickmann of Louisville, NE.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Cynthia Stohlmann.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Louisville, Nebraska with Rev. Jon Sollberger officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, December 19, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
