Madeline Elizabeth (Frees) Frech, 98, of Syracuse, Nebraska, died July 7, 2018. Widow of Richard Heeman Frech, daughter of Edward R. and Magedelena (Lena Knoechel) Frees. Mother of Thomas R. (wife Peggy), Syracuse, Ne, James E. (wife Mary Kay) of Bethesda, Md., and daughter Judith E., Westfield, Ma.
Madeline was born on August 12, 1919 in Chicago, raised in Norwood, Ohio. Worked at Union Central Life Insurance Co., Wright Aeronautical and Globe in Cincinnati and retired from the Girl Scout Council in South Burlington, Vt.
Madeline loved her family and supported their efforts and dreams. Loved to read, dabbled in quilting cross-stitching and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. Took up 10 pin bowling and golf. Involved in Girl Scouting in Cincinnati, as a leader, trainer, camp director and office worker in Vt. Retired to Orange City, Fl. where she golfed and volunteered for the local library for 25 years. Moved to Nebraska to live with eldest son, Tom and family.
Preceded in death by husband, parents, brother William E. Frees, sisters Augusta (Frees) Irvin, Gertrude (Trudy Frees) Robertson, brothers-in-laws Robert Irvin, Robert Robertson, Robert Frech, sister-in-law Mary Dornett Frees, nieces Joyce Robertson Goetz, Barbara Irvin Smith, and nephews Tom and Timothy Frech.
Survivors; 3 children, brother Richard Frees of Modesto, Ca., 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren,1 great-great granddaughter, and many loved nieces and nephews.
Cremation by Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, Syracuse, Ne. Memorial service and interment will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
